In a show of solidarity following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, a high-level all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, met with the Indian community and top leadership in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Speaking at an interaction hosted by the Indian Embassy, Shinde expressed gratitude for the UAE’s swift condemnation of the attack and reaffirmed India’s unwavering stance against terrorism.
“The UAE and India share a bond that transcends trade and culture. In times of adversity, true friendships reveal themselves—and the UAE has proven itself a steadfast ally,” said MP Shinde, acknowledging the UAE’s strong diplomatic support in the aftermath of the attack.
The Indian delegation met with several senior Emirati leaders, including Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Co-Existence, and key think tanks. Shinde noted that these interactions reinforced the UAE’s deep understanding of the challenges India faces. “It was overwhelming to see that UAE truly understands India’s pain,” he said.
The MP emphasized that the visit aimed to send a “clear-cut message” to the international community about India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. “India has been a victim of terrorism for over four decades. Now, there is a new normal—zero tolerance,” Shinde stated, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance.
The delegation also addressed misinformation surrounding the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, India’s calibrated response to the atrocity. Shinde praised the candid remarks made by Sheikh Nahyan and Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, who condemned terrorism in the name of religion.
Earlier in the day, the delegation paid tribute at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy and held detailed discussions with top UAE officials, including members of the Federal National Council. The UAE Minister of Tolerance assured continued support, saying, “India and UAE will tackle terrorism together. The UAE will always stand by India.”
The UAE marks the first leg of a broader four-nation diplomatic outreach by the Indian delegation. Members of the delegation include MPs Bansuri Swaraj, ET Mohmd Basheer, Atul Garg, Sasmit Patra, Manan Kumar Mishra, BJP leader Surendrajeet Singh Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.
The visit highlights the growing strategic cooperation between India and the UAE, and India’s commitment to mobilize global opinion against terrorism through diplomatic engagement.
